Work 4 Peace,Hold All Life Sacred,Eliminate Violence! I am on my mobile version of the door-to-door, going town-to-town holding readings/gatherings/discussions of my book "But What Can I Do?" This is my often neglected blog mostly about my travels since 9/11 as I engage in dialogue and actions. It is steaming with my opinions, insights, analyses toward that end of holding all life sacred, dismantling the empire and eliminating violence while creating the society we want ALL to thrive in

sunshine, warmth, and SPRING

The first few years I lived in California I missed spring – in fact, I thought California didn’t have a spring, just flowers all year round – which we do but we also definitely have a spring – NOW! I learned to to start looking towards the end of January, beginning February, and presto! she’s arrived!!!
The magnolias are just shy of full bloom, the pink plum blossoms accented by the bright green of new, fresh leaves flood the streets, daffodils and crocuses are sprouting up all over! It’s good to be home.
Last nite I went to the monthly codepink meeting – we meet the 2nd Wednesday in s.f., and the 4th Wednesday in Berkeley. We talked mostly about report backs – from d.c. actions, the counter anti-abortion actions that took place here in s.f., and the vigils. I hope EVERYONE who is reading this spends an hour on Wednesday evening vigiling on the street corner of your choice!
We also talked about future actions, including bringing home the national guard, the report back from iraq – I can’t wait to hear that – international women’s day march 8th in nyc actions, and the big demos planned at Fayetteville & Camp Pendleton for the 19th.
I opened my shop today, for the first time in almost 2 months - am I BROKE! I had come by yesterday, a little apprehensive, not knowing what I'd find this time - lots was well, no nasty hate notes, no new hate stickers. But someone has stolen my bulletin board - which breaks my heart not just because it was a brand new one donated my Monica days before I left, but also because so many folks have told me how happy they are to get information from the bulletin board. I will have to think of a more permanent bulletin board. In the meantime, I've resurrected the old board – the one that has ‘kill fags’ & ‘fags’ in a circle with a line thru it, scratched into the bulletin board: right above the ‘remember 9/11’ that is scratched underneath.
I cover the hate messages with bright pink paper on which I write: “What is really happening in Iraq: a report back from codepink’s Families For Peace Delegation”. I made flyers & posted them for folks to take. I’m off! Peace, sam
